Malkia Stars in Manila

The Kenya National Women’s Volleyball Team, Malkia Strikers, are in Manila, Philipines, for this year’s Challenger Cup.

Malkia Strikers will face off against Puerto Rico in their opening match on July 4, 2024.

Led by the professional hard-hitting left attacker Veronicah Adhiambo Oluoch, who plays in Greece, the team boasts a strong lineup. Other key players include professional Sharon Chumba, prolific setter Esther Kamene Mutinda, captain and center blocker Trizah Atuka, and veteran libero Agrippina Kundu.

The coaching unit is headed by experienced coach Japheth Munala, with assistance from coach Josp Barasa, trainer Jannet Wanja, technical coordinator Paul Bitok, and Manila-based FIVB Level 3 coach Godfrey Owese Okumu, who also serves as the team guide.

The Challenger Cup serves as an excellent platform and training opportunity for the Malkia Strikers as they prepare for the Paris Olympics. In the lead-up to the Olympics, the team will train and acclimatize at the TEAM KENYA camp in Miramas for three weeks.
