President William Ruto is rumored to be reshuffling his cabinet today. A press briefing has been called at State House, fueling speculation about imminent changes in the government.
This development follows mass protests concerning the Finance Bill 2024, corruption, debt management, and the wastage of government resources. Last week, during a Presidential Roundtable interview, Ruto hinted at the possibility of a cabinet reshuffle, stating, “My cabinet did a wonderful job, however, they should have done much better. I now have a moment to reflect deeply.”
A source speaking on condition of anonymity indicated that ministries will be reorganized and consolidated. In addition to some Cabinet Secretaries being replaced, several Principal Secretaries may also be shown the door.
The upcoming press briefing at 1:00 PM is expected to provide clarity on these rumors and outline the President’s plans for his administration moving forward.
