Preparations for Embu Rugby Sevens Tournament in Full Swing

Preparations for this year’s Embu Rugby Sevens Tournament, set to be held from July 12 to 14 at Moi Stadium, are in full swing. The organizers, Embu Rugby Football Club, are working diligently to ensure the grounds and all necessary installations are ready for the event.

Bosire Abija, the club chairperson, announced that the competition will commence with the Under-18 contest, commonly known as the age-grade group, on Friday. This day is designed to be a family fun day with no gate charges for spectators.

So far, 16 clubs have confirmed their participation, including prominent teams like Impala, Strathmore, Zetech, and Nakuru RFC. Additionally, clubs from neighboring areas, such as Meru, Chuka, and Kirinyaga, will also take part.

Abija mentioned that registration is still open for other teams across the country, provided they are duly registered and affiliated with the Kenya Rugby Union (KRU). “Our tournament is sanctioned by KRU, so to participate, teams must be registered and meet the standards set by the union,” he emphasized.

There will be prizes awarded to the winners, and Abija expressed confidence that the home team would emerge as the overall winner, given their strong performance at the Meru Sevens two weeks ago, where they secured second place.

Additionally, Abija assured that security measures would be enhanced to ensure the tournament runs smoothly.
