Kisii Town Sees Calm as Youths Skip Saba Saba Commemoration

Kisii County

Kisii town witnessed an unusually calm Saba Saba commemoration as youths, who had earlier pledged to participate, chose to stay away from the streets. The town saw only a few pedestrians, with most residents opting to stay indoors, fearing a repeat of the violence that marked last Tuesday’s Gen Z demonstrations, during which businesses were looted and property damaged by goons.

Pastor Denis Sosi from Glorious Life Christian Center praised the youths for heeding President William Ruto’s call for calm and for choosing to avoid destructive activities. “We commend the youths for listening to the president’s wise advice to maintain calm as he addresses their grievances,” Sosi stated.

The pastor also expressed gratitude to President Ruto for his commitment to setting a new direction for the country following the recent massive protests. He urged the youths to avoid engaging in destructive activities and to work closely with the government to foster unity and development.

Sosi condemned those who infiltrated the peaceful demonstrations and caused harm, especially to small businesses, emphasizing the need for peaceful and constructive engagement.
