Double Olympic Champion Faith Kipyegon has set a new world record in the 1500m, clocking an astonishing 3:49.04 at the Paris Diamond League. This remarkable feat breaks her own 2023 world record of 3:49.11, which she set in June.

Reflecting on her achievement, Kipyegon said, “I knew the world record was possible because I recently ran very fast in Kenya. I was coming here to just run my race and to see what shape I’m in to defend my title at the Olympics.”

President William Ruto praised Kipyegon’s achievement, stating, “Faith Kipyegon has once again made history. Congratulations on breaking your own record in the 1500m race. Your victory is a testament to the rewards of hard work and determination, a valuable lesson to the aspiring young athletes who look up to you.”

President Ruto also congratulated Amos Serem and Abraham Kibiwott for securing second and third places in the men’s 3000m steeplechase.

President Ruto concluded by expressing pride in Team Kenya’s outstanding representation at the Paris Diamond League.

Elsewhere, Ferdinand Omanyala of Kenya won the 100m race at the FBK Hengelo Games, clocking a time of 10.01 seconds, further showcasing the prowess of Kenyan athletes on the global stage.
