Kwale Governor Fatuma Achani has officially launched the tarmacking of two critical roads, the Kona ya Polisi-Msambweni Hospital Road and the Mangwei-Majoreni Road, in a bid to significantly enhance infrastructure and boost economic development in the region.
In a ceremony held yesterday, Governor Achani, accompanied by Deputy GovernorChirema Kombo, presided over the groundbreaking of the 2.8 km Kona ya Polisi-Msambweni Hospital Road in Ramisi and the phased tarmacking of the Mangwei-Majoreni Road in Pongwe/Kikoneni wards. The Kona ya Polisi-Msambweni Hospital Road, plagued by persistent potholes, will be completed in six months. This improvement is expected to ease access for residents and patients to the hospital, addressing long-standing inconveniences.
The Mangwei-Majoreni Road will see the stretch completed within 12 months, significantly enhancing transportation for residents, especially during adverse weather conditions.
Governor Achani emphasized her commitment to fulfilling campaign promises and driving economic and infrastructural development in Kwale. “I am dedicated to delivering the commitments outlined during my campaign and maintain a strong resolve in my efforts to improve and advance the economic and infrastructural development in Kwale,” she stated. “Overall, the development projects will undeniably have a positive impact on the residents of Kwale, significantly improving infrastructure and creating abundant opportunities for economic and social advancement for the people.”
The launch event saw the attendance of several key leaders, including Msambweni MP Hon. Feisal Bader, Lungalunga MP Hon. Mangale Chiforomodo, Nominated Senator Hon. Raphael Chimera, Ramisi Ward MCA Hon. Hanifa Mwajirani, and Pongwe/Kikoneni MCA Hon. Bakari Mwaduga. Governor Achani was also accompanied by CECs and Chief Officers from various departments, such as Roads, Water, Agriculture, Finance & Economic Planning, and Social Services.
The road projects are expected to create numerous opportunities for economic and social advancement, marking a significant step forward in the infrastructural development of Kwale County.
