Police in Bondo have launched an investigation into the mysterious death of a 20-year-old farm worker, Livingston Omusanga, whose body was discovered hanging from a low tree in Bondo Sub-County on the evening of August 14, 2024.

The body was found in a suspicious position, with Omusanga’s feet touching the ground and visible injuries on his elbow and fingers. According to Siaya County Police Commandant Cleti Kimaiyo, the deceased had been dismissed from his job earlier by his employer, Walter Qyiecho, who owns the farm where the incident occurred. Qyiecho had reported to Maranda Police Post that Omusanga had damaged property at his home and threatened to take his own life after being dismissed.

Kimaiyo noted that the deceased’s body was found tied to a rope near a pig shed on the farm, but no suicide note was left behind, raising further questions about the circumstances surrounding his death.

The body has been moved to Bondo Mortuary as police continue their investigation into the incident.
