Brigadier Paul Njuguna Appointed New Chief of Strategic Communications for KDF

Brigadier Paul Njuguna officially assumed the role of Chief of Strategic Communications of the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF). Brigadier Njuguna succeeds Brigadier Zipporah Kioko, following a series of KDF postings, promotions, and appointments announced on Thursday, 26 July 2024.

Brigadier Njuguna brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having previously served as the Colonel of Public Affairs and KDF spokesperson. His extensive background includes a notable tenure as the spokesperson for AMISOM (now ATMIS) Force. With this new appointment, Brigadier Njuguna is expected to continue fostering strong relationships with the media, ensuring consistent and transparent communication about KDF’s activities both within Kenya and across the region.

The appointment underscores the KDF’s commitment to effective communication and public engagement, particularly in light of ongoing regional and international military operations. Brigadier Njuguna’s leadership is anticipated to enhance the strategic communication efforts of the KDF, ensuring that the public remains well-informed about the forces’ operations and initiatives.

In related changes, Brigadier Kioko, who previously held the role now occupied by Brigadier Njuguna, has taken over as Director of Corporate Communications at the National Defence University-Kenya. Her tenure as Chief of Strategic Communications was marked by significant achievements in improving the transparency and outreach of the KDF’s communications.
