Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome has resigned. The Deputy-Inspector General of the Kenya Police Service Douglas Kanja will take over from Koome as the acting IG. Garissa County, Kenya — In the early hours of today, tragedy struck along the Garissa-Mwingi road near Katumba trading center, as a Nissan UD bus, operated by Al-Mukaram Bus Service Company, collided with a stalled Mercedes Benz trailer, resulting in the death of seven people. The bus, carrying approximately 50 passengers from Garissa towards Nairobi, was driven by Hassan Bura.
