Explosion at Mandera Hotel Leaves Five Civilians Seriously Injured

Five civilians are nursing serious injuries following an explosion that occurred at a hotel in Mandera County on Wednesday. Mandera County Police Commander Samuel Mutunga confirmed the incident, which took place around 12:10 pm on Wednesday. According to Mutunga, the attacker placed a paper bag containing an improvised explosive device (IED) outside the hotel. The suspicious package was noticed by hotel workers shortly before it exploded, injuring five individuals, including some passersby.
