Clinical officers who have been on strike for the past 99 days will return to work starting Tuesday morning.
The national union has called off the strike and urged its members to report to their respective workplaces immediately.
However, clinical officers in hospitals run by the national government will remain on strike. The union accuses the Ministry of Health of failing to honor any of their demands.
According to George Gibore, the national secretary general of the clinical officers’ union, county governments, through the Council of Governors (CoG), have fulfilled their commitments. These include providing insurance covers for clinical officers and ensuring there will be no victimization.
The CoG also encouraged Kenyans to register for the ongoing Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF), clarifying that it is not a form of tax registration.
