This substantial allocation is aimed at supporting learners across all public primary, junior secondary, and secondary schools in the country.
The breakdown of the funds is as follows:

The timely disbursement of these capitation funds is expected to facilitate a smooth and seamless resumption of school activities as students return for the new term. This move is in line with the government’s commitment to ensuring that every child in Kenya has access to free and compulsory basic education, as enshrined in Article 53(1)(b) of the Constitution.
In the press release, Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba reaffirmed the government’s dedication to fulfilling its constitutional duty to learners. He also issued a directive to school heads and principals to use the public resources entrusted to them prudently, ensuring that they benefit the students and prevent the imposition of unauthorized levies. The Ministry has pledged to take firm action against any verified cases of misappropriation of funds or unauthorized charges.
As the new school term approaches, the government’s allocation of these funds underscores its ongoing efforts to support education and ensure that every Kenyan child has access to quality learning opportunities.
