Governor Achani pledges greater youth inclusion

Kwale Governor, Fatuma Achani, has called on the youths to be actively involved in governance, by increasing their participation and exposure in decision making.

Governor Achani has advised the youth to serve as positive change agents in the society, emphasizing the importance of peaceful advocacy over violent protests.

Achani urged the youth to embrace peace and choose the path of constructive engagement with the County and National government, assuring them that her Administration is doing everything possible to create an atmosphere conducive for all.

The coastal County Boss promised increased youth representation in her Administration, noting that she had already appointed many young competent individuals since taking office in 2022.

Achani who was speaking after meeting a delegation from the Kwale Youth Assembly at the County Headquarters also emphasized that the county’s socio-economic progress, is closely tied to youth engagement.

“The purpose of the meeting was to discuss partnership ventures between the County and the Kwale youth leadership on finding ways to foster a good relationship between the devolved government and the local youths,” she said.

Achani also urged the youth to work closely with all the local political leadership of the county in finding amicable solutions facing the youths.

“I firmly assure the youth of my unwavering collaborative support in implementing policies and ensuring that service delivery effectively reaches the people,” she said, describing the youths as the driving force for the county.

She has commended the youths for being steadfast and showing determination to rise above every obstacle in their quest for success.

“Youth priorities will be the county’s priorities and we promise to work closely with youth leadership to take Kwale even to greater heights,” she said, adding that the County will continue to nurture the talent of the youths in spheres such as sports.

Achani assured the youths of her commitment to ensure their potentials are fully harnessed through the provision of various development initiatives and programmes aimed at empowering them.

On their part the Kwale Youth Assembly team, led by their leader, Omar Mbwana, vowed and committed themselves in working closely with the County Government and expressed the youths’ voices in finding solutions to problems facing the society.

Mbwana wants the County to support youth development through education, provision of learning opportunities, mentorship and guidance to enhance their welfare.

He says the youth will continue to maximize the opportunities they have and engage actively in governance for a prosperous future.

The youth leader said they will continue to be ambassadors of peace in their communities to address the challenges they face around peace and security issues.
