Rodi Kopany Township in Homa Bay County is engulfed in a sombre mood following the mysterious death of a 24-year-old woman. Lilian Atieno, an employee of a solar company in Sori Town, was found lifeless in a guest house room under suspicious circumstances.
According to her uncle, Peter Otieno, Atieno had been receiving numerous calls from an unidentified man in the days leading up to her death. The man, who had befriended Atieno, allegedly sent her money for transport and instructed her to meet him at the guest house.
Atieno waited for several hours before the man arrived at midnight. The two checked into the room for the night, but the following morning, Atieno was found dead with no visible injuries.
A postmortem examination revealed that Atieno died from poisoning. Her family is now demanding justice for her untimely death.
Homa Bay Sub-County DCI Commander Charles Koilenge stated that investigations are ongoing, and samples from Atieno’s body have been sent to the government laboratory for analysis. Detectives have discovered that the suspect used a fake ID to check into the guest house.
As the search for the suspect intensifies, Atieno’s colleagues have been summoned to assist in the investigation. The family and the community remain hopeful that the truth behind this tragic incident will soon be uncovered.
