The Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy, Dr. Margaret Ndung’u, has received a comprehensive report from the ICT Sector Working Group (SWG) recommending reforms in the country’s ICT policies, laws, and operational structures. The report was presented during a ceremony at the Kenya School of Government (KSG).

The SWG, which was established in September 2023, conducted an extensive review of the current ICT sector, collecting data and engaging various stakeholders. The report offers recommendations across ten key themes, including digital infrastructure, cybersecurity, emerging technologies, and media broadcasting, aiming to foster growth in Kenya’s digital economy over the next 10 to 20 years.

Dr. Ndung’u, accompanied by ICT and Digital Economy Principal Secretary Eng. John Tanui and other senior officials, emphasized the importance of these reforms in positioning Kenya as a leader in the digital economy. The recommendations were developed with input from a wide range of stakeholders, including government departments, private sector actors, and civil society groups.

The SWG’s report includes strategies for reform implementation, financing, and recommendations on improving ministry structures to ensure successful execution.
