Kericho Members of County Assembly (MCAs) have unanimously passed a motion to impeach County Secretary Dr. Wesley Bor on allegations of gross violation of the constitution, breach of the County Government Act, and incompetence.

The motion was moved by Kapsaos MCA Paul Bii, who cited numerous complaints from county staff and members of the public regarding Dr. Bor’s conduct. Bii highlighted that one of the key allegations involved the unprocedural redeployment of county staff, in violation of the Human Resource Management Policy and the County Government Act 2012.

Ainamoi MCA Cheruiyot Bett further supported the motion, stating that Dr. Bor had been adversely mentioned in an ADHOC Committee investigation into the misappropriation of funds intended for victims of the Londiani Accident. Additionally, Cheruiyot accused Dr. Bor of misusing KSh 39 million allocated for the Kazi Mtaani project, alleging that the funds were lost through companies linked to him.

“The County Secretary has shown a blatant disregard for proper procedures and has been implicated in serious financial mismanagement,” said Bett.

The MCAs are now awaiting the formation of a select committee, consisting of no more than five members, to thoroughly investigate the allegations and compile a report.

The decision to impeach Dr. Bor marks a significant step in addressing the governance and accountability issues within Kericho County. The select committee’s findings will be crucial in determining the next steps and ensuring transparency in the county’s administration.
