Meru Elders Defend Interior CS and Police IG Over Handling of Protests

Meru Elders (Njuri Ncheke)

Meru Elders, known as Njuri Ncheke, have voiced their support for Interior Cabinet Secretary Prof. Kithure Kindiki and Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome regarding their management of last week’s protests across Kenya.

The elders argue that the criticism directed at Kindiki and Koome is politically motivated and intended to tarnish their reputations, despite their actions being within the bounds of the law.

The Njuri Ncheke also praised President William Ruto for engaging with the younger generation, known as Gen Z, demonstrating his willingness to listen and address their concerns.

The elders reiterated their steadfast support for the president and his developmental initiatives, emphasizing their confidence in his leadership and vision for the country.

During the anti-finance bill 2024 protests, which were infiltrated by goons, more than 30 people were killed as the government moved to restore order. The elders defended the government’s response, highlighting the challenges posed by the violent elements within the demonstrations.
