Mwingi West MP Charles Nguna reiterated his concerns over the influence of the Executive branch on Parliament, claiming that the legislative body has been effectively “captured.”

Speaking early today, Nguna emphasized that this interference is particularly evident in budgetary and legislative matters.

Nguna stated, “We are witnessing excessive interference from the Executive. The President has significantly meddled with budgeting and legislation processes.” He urged fellow parliamentarians to legislate and budget responsibly, warning against being swayed by greed and emphasizing the need for equitable resource distribution across the country.

He criticized the current practice of channeling resources predominantly to regions associated with executive leaders, neglecting marginalized areas. Nguna called for a return to prioritizing projects that benefit the entire Republic of Kenya rather than serving narrow interests.

Expressing gratitude towards Gen Z for their activism, Nguna highlighted the importance of representing the Kenyan populace’s interests rather than succumbing to executive pressures. He warned the Executive to refrain from interfering in parliamentary affairs, asserting, “Your job is not to oversee or legislate, but to implement what Parliament has budgeted.”

Nguna also condemned members of parliament who align themselves with the Executive at the expense of their constituents’ interests. He pointed out the imbalance created by such alliances, particularly noting the situation with the UDM party, which shifted allegiances post-election, thereby disrupting the balance of power in Parliament.

Nguna called for accountability and urged all members of parliament to honor their mandate from the citizens, emphasizing the need for legislative independence and integrity.
