Nakuru County Chief Officer for Youth, Sports, and Talent, Alex Maina, has pledged to support the county’s darts leadership and nurture talents across the region. Maina announced that resources have been allocated to establish mini stadiums in the county’s eleven sub-counties to promote darts as both a talent and a potential career path for players.

Speaking at a hotel in Njoro Sub-county, where thirty teams from Nakuru, Kiambu, Baringo, and Nairobi Counties participated in an event organized by the Kenya Darts Association Council, Maina assured players that the county will seek public-private partnerships to develop frameworks and policies supporting and sponsoring darts. He also commended county employees who are key players in the sport and acknowledged the significant role they have played in promoting it.

Maina emphasized the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship, noting that they teach young individuals valuable life lessons. Nakuru County Branch Darts Chairperson Peter Kariuki pledged to collaborate with county leadership to promote darts competitions, targeting youth to address idleness and combat drug abuse.

Kariuki highlighted the game’s benefits, including its potential to foster community and social cohesion, enhance mental and emotional stability, and promote overall well-being. He noted that regular practice of darts can improve cognitive functions, relieve stress, and enhance hand-eye coordination, focus, precision, and patience.
