Nairobi County saw more than 2,700 residents receive free medical services at a camp hosted by the M-Pesa Foundation in collaboration with Zuri Health and Lions SightFirst Eye Hospital. The event took place at Kwa Ng’ethe Primary School in Githurai and is part of an ongoing effort to support Kenyans across the country.

The medical camp provided a range of services, including eye care consultations, breast and cervical cancer screenings, fistula screenings, general doctor consultations, diabetes screenings, hypertension monitoring, and health consultations for both the elderly and children.

“Safaricom, through our Foundations, is committed to transforming lives. Healthcare is one of the major needs of the community, which has ensured we invest in medical camps to support communities in all 47 counties. We are also aware of the current situation where some Kenyans need support. That is why we are standing with people during this time of need through several interventions, including this camp,” said Peter Ndegwa, CEO of Safaricom PLC.

Following the successful camp in Githurai, the M-Pesa Foundation will host another medical camp in Ongata Rongai on July 12, 2024, as part of its continued support for Kenyans. Other initiatives by M-Pesa and Safaricom Foundations include providing aftercare for patients and infrastructure development support for hospitals.

Since April this year, the M-Pesa Foundation has held four medical camps in Siaya, Mathare, Machakos, and Bungoma, impacting more than 14,000 people.
