PNU Leader Peter Munya Considers Withdrawal from Azimio Coalition

Peter Munya

The leader of the Party of National Unity (PNU), Peter Munya, announced that the party is considering withdrawing from the Azimio coalition, following the recent exit of the NARCK party led by Martha Karua.

Speaking in Imenti South constituency, Meru County, Munya urged Azimio to make a clear decision on fully joining the government. He emphasized that Azimio cannot simultaneously be part of the government and the opposition.

“As the PNU party, we are not ready to join the government. We believe that the PNU party will play a more effective role in the opposition than in the government,” Munya stated.

Munya criticized Azimio leader Raila Odinga’s alliance with President William Ruto, which has resulted in the appointment of some ODM leaders to cabinet secretary positions. He argued that this should not be perceived as a move towards an all-inclusive government but rather as a pursuit of personal interests.

The PNU leader’s remarks highlight the growing tension within the Azimio coalition and raise questions about its future direction and unity.
