Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki welcomed the Eritrean National Team athletes at his office in Adi-Halo. The team is set to compete in the Paris Olympic Games, which begin next week.
During the meeting, President Isaias expressed his unwavering belief that Eritrea will produce top-tier international athletes across various sports. He highlighted the importance of grassroots development, emphasizing the need to establish the necessary infrastructure and facilities throughout the country.
President Isaias stressed the importance of expanding the scope of sports beyond a few areas and organizing continuous competitions across all regions. This approach, he noted, is essential for nurturing athletes capable of competing and succeeding in international events.
The President also extended his best wishes to the athletes, underscoring the moral boost their success would provide to young and aspiring sportsmen and sportswomen in Eritrea.
Eritrea will be represented by 11 athletes in cycling, swimming, and athletics at the Paris Olympic Games 2024.
