President Museveni Signs 19 Bills into Law

President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda has signed 19 bills into law. This development marks a major step in the country’s legislative and governance processes, reflecting the government’s commitment to implementing a wide range of policies and regulations across various sectors.

The signing ceremony, which took place at the State House in Entebbe, was attended by key government officials and lawmakers. President Museveni emphasized the importance of these new laws in enhancing the country’s legal framework and addressing critical issues that impact the lives of Ugandans. They are:

  • The Anti-Money Laundering (Amendment) Bill, 2023.
  • The Business Facilitation (Miscellaneous Amendments) Bill, 2023.
  • The National Local Content Bill, 2023.
  • The Trustees Incorporation (Amendment) Bill, 2023.
  • The Market (Amendment) Bill, 2023.
  • The Partnership (Amendment) Bill, 2023.
  • The Judicature (Amendment) Bill, 2023.
  • The Registration of Persons (Amendment) Bill, 2023.
  • The Anti-Slavery Bill, 2023.
  • The Companies (Amendment) Bill, 2023.
  • The Law Revision (Penalties in Criminal Matters) Miscellaneous (Amendment) Bill, 2023.
  • The Prevention of Trafficking in Persons (Amendment) Bill, 2023.
  • The Capital Markets Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2023.
  • The Chattels Securities (Amendment) Bill, 2023.
  • The Foreign Service Bill, 2023.
  • The Income Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2023.
  • The Stamp Duty (Amendment) Bill, 2023.
  • The Excise Duty (Amendment) Bill, 2023.
  • The Value Added Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2023.

The National Commission for UNESCO (Amendment) Act 2024 and Higher Education Students Financing (Amendment) Act 2024 were returned to the Parliament.
