President William Ruto has unveiled a list of 11 nominated Cabinet Secretaries and the Attorney General, following recent dismissals and a period of national reflection and public discourse.
Those retained in the very dockets following the recent dismissal are: Ministry of the Interior and National Administration: Prof. Kithure Kindiki; Ministry of Defence: Aden Barre Duale; Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development: Alice Wahome; and Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry: Roselinda Soipan Tuiya.
Davis Chirchir was technically moved from the Ministry of Energy to the Ministry of Roads and Transport while Rebecca Miano from the Ministry of Trade to become the first female Attorney-General in Kenya.
Fresh nominees are: Ministry of Health: Dr. Debra Mlongo Barasa; Ministry of Education: Julius Migos Ogamba; Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development: Dr. Andrew Mwihia Karanja; Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation: Eric Muriithi Muuga; and Ministry of Information, Communication and the Digital Economy: Margaret Nyambura Ndung’u.
During a press briefing at State House, Nairobi, President Ruto highlighted the government’s commitment to addressing the pressing issues raised by recent demonstrations, particularly those led by Generation Z. Key concerns include the cost of living, job creation, public resource management, public debt, and inclusive governance.
President Ruto emphasized the nation’s opportunity to overcome the current crisis and achieve substantial progress, calling for collective efforts to transform Kenya into a prosperous and inclusive nation.
“Together, we have a chance to take our country where we all want it to be and make our nation the Kenya we all want: A great nation,” he stated.
The President’s plan underscores his commitment to addressing the nation’s urgent priorities and steering Kenya towards a more prosperous future.
