President William Ruto has signed the Supplementary Appropriation Bill into law, allocating additional resources to key sectors such as agriculture, education, and healthcare. The bill, known as the Supplementary Appropriation (No.2) Bill (National Assembly Bill No. 39 of 2024), was signed at State House in Nairobi.
The newly enacted law enhances the country’s Universal Health Coverage (UHC) program by providing funding for medical internships, UHC workers on contract, and Community Health Promoters. This move aims to strengthen healthcare services and ensure more Kenyans have access to quality medical care.
Additionally, the bill facilitates the hiring of Junior School interns on permanent terms, addressing staffing needs in the education sector. It also introduces a new financing model for higher education, making it more accessible to students across the country.
President Ruto emphasized the importance of these allocations in improving the lives of Kenyans and ensuring sustainable development in these critical areas.
