Azimio leader Raila Odinga has urged his clansmen to pray for his success in securing the top position at the African Union Commission (AUC). Speaking at his late father Jaramogi Oginga Odinga’s home in Nyamira Kang’o village, Bondo sub-county, Mr. Odinga emphasized his desire to lead the continent and reduce Africa’s dependency on European countries.
Addressing his Sakwa clansmen from South Nyanza, the opposition chief said that Africa is capable of solving its own problems without relying on foreign nations. He reaffirmed his commitment to empowering the continent by seeking the AUC chairmanship.
Nairobi Governor Johnston Sakaja, who was present at the ceremony, praised Mr. Odinga for seeking blessings from his clansmen, calling it a strong foundation for success. He expressed his full support for Mr. Odinga’s bid, describing him as the most qualified candidate for the post.
Kisumu Governor Prof. Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o reassured Kenyans that despite Odinga’s potential new role at the AUC, he would remain available for consultation and would continue to contribute to Kenya’s progress.
The Sakwa reunion saw Mr. Odinga’s clansmen from South and Central Nyanza, led by Migori Governor Ochilo Ayacko, offer prayers and blessings for him as he embarks on his bid for the AUC leadership.
