The landslide occurred on Monday night in Kapkwang village, Kabartonjo ward, sweeping away homes and essential facilities such as latrines and water systems, leaving many families homeless. Calm slowly returns along Samburu Baringo border

The government has restored peace and calm in the volatile 68-kilometer Malaso-Morijo belt along the border of Samburu and Baringo Counties following rampant cattle rustling in the last one year. Samburu County Commissioner (CC) John Cheruiyot said that a multi-agency security operation has seen the reduction of cattle rustling incidences between communities from the two counties that often left a trail of death and destruction.
