Residents of Nyandiwa village in Homa Bay County were left in shock on Monday morning when arsonists set fire to a local posho mill, causing extensive damage and financial losses. The mill's owner, Dickens Oswago, reported that the assailants gained entry by cutting through an iron sheet wall. Tragedy struck the Kanga area in Rongo Subcounty when a 750-meter wall of the Choppa gold mine collapsed, resulting in the confirmed deaths of two individuals. The incident occurred while 18 miners were working within the mine. Rescue operations were swiftly initiated, leading to the successful extraction of six miners from the debris.
