The Phase 1 finals of the PS Ismail Maalim Tournament concluded in Elwak, Mandera South, with Tiger Traffic FC defeating White City FC 3-1 in a penalty shootout after a goalless draw. Tiger Traffic FC secured the trophy and a cash prize of Ksh 200,000.
White City FC, the first runners-up, earned Ksh 100,000, while Bula Dana FC took home Ksh 50,000 as the second runners-up. Individual honors were awarded to Abdiaahid Karo as the top scorer and Abdihamid Carloz as the best player, each receiving Ksh 10,000. Lewi from White City FC was named the best goalkeeper, winning Ksh 5,000.
The youth-focused tournament, aimed at keeping young people engaged during school holidays, will continue in Mandera West and Banisa sub-counties over the weekend. PS Ismail Maalim highlighted the tournament’s goal of providing constructive activities to keep youth away from harmful behaviors like drug abuse.
The first phase saw participation from 66 clubs, with the second phase set for December, targeting Mandera East, Mandera North, and Lafey sub-counties.
Dignitaries at the event included MPs Abdul Haro Ibrahim (Mandera South) and Adan Haji (Mandera West), alongside other local leaders.
