Ni Sawa,” which translates to “It’s Okay” in Swahili, is a lively Afropop dance track that narrates the tale of a jilted lover who isn’t upset about being left, but rather about who they were left for. Infused with humor, the song captures a sense of denial. Drawing heavily from African chanting, which bookends the track, “Ni Sawa” seamlessly blends African folk sounds with Afropop rhythms. It encourages listeners to relate to its storyline while also inspiring them to dance.

Written and performed by V-BE and Steph Kapela, the song’s audio production, mixing, and mastering were expertly handled by Ihaji Made It. The accompanying video was crafted by Rahim The Filming King, featuring background vocals by Nkatha Muthoni and Cheruu, as well as guitars played by Clinton Wahenguzi of the band.
